This initiative with its headquarters in Brussels was founded in March 2003 and aims at improving the social standards in the manufacturing countries supplying companies in the industrialised countries. Child and forced labour are also condemned as insufficient safety at the workplace, the obstruction of employee’s representatives as well as any form of discrimination. The BSCI is the world-wide first initiative for social compliance which offers all member companies a uniform code of conduct, and which obligates them to implement it in their supply chain. The endeavour for a practical solution has been paid tribute to on 7th December 2009: The BSCI was awarded the “Prize for Entrepreneurial Ethics 2008” during a reception organized by the Deutsche Netzwerk Wirtschaftsethik (DNWE) (German Business Ethics Network). With its membership, the INTERTEC Group supports the BSCI targets actively, and will implement and monitor the measures with its manufacturers required to achieve these targets.
